About Sound Outside
Sound Outside unites two of the most powerful forces for promoting wellbeing and happiness: Creative music making, and beautiful natural spaces. We help people unplug and recharge, connect with what’s real, and find their natural pulse.
Our work is guided by the belief that, like nature, creativity belongs to everyone and that when we’re being creative together and feeling safe, our best selves step forward.
Our mission, vision and values
Mission
Our mission is to give people back to themselves.
We do that through immersive musical experiences in nature that restore the creative, connective, and human conditions that modern life quietly erodes. No experience needed. No performance. No pressure. Just a carefully held day in beautiful, quiet woodland, making music with other people, led by professional musicians, that leaves you feeling more like yourself than you did when you arrived.
We believe that creativity, connection, and a sense of belonging are not luxuries. They are the conditions that allow human beings to think clearly, relate honestly, and live well. When those conditions are restored, something shifts. Not just on the day. In the days that follow.
Our work is for individuals who have lost touch with something they cannot quite name, and for organisations that understand that the humans inside them are the thing worth investing in.
A world where the conditions for human flourishing are treated as essential, not optional.
We are building towards a future where time in nature, creative expression, and genuine human connection are understood not as rewards for productivity, but as the foundations of it. Where organisations invest in restoring their people, not just managing them. Where individuals feel entitled to come back to themselves, regularly, without guilt.
We exist to make that case, and to prove it, one day in the woods at a time.
Vision
-
Feeling safe is fundamental to our ability to connect and create. Establishing trust and a shared sense of support allows people to be themselves, and to perform at their best.
-
Most of us spend our working lives editing ourselves before we speak. Removing that pressure creates the conditions for something more honest, and more powerful, to emerge.
-
Sound in the Woods is designed to be a day for you, whoever you are and whatever you bring. Not a day you tolerate. A day that is genuinely yours.
-
Human beings are hardwired to cooperate, and when we connect, we become greater than the sum of our parts. Individual contributions, when connected and celebrated, lead to a sense of collective achievement that doesn’t happen when you’re working alone.
-
Creativity is part of human DNA, one of our greatest superpowers, and a fundamental human right. Our work is committed to helping people reclaim and reinforce their creative spark and celebrate it as a source of constant strength and joy.
